FONDA AND DINO
BROWNLAND'S MISS MARTHA

BROWNLAND'S MISS MARTHA

In the first stage I start with visiting the horse and rider to get a feel for character and personality. I use this time to get some really good photographs of the horse and rider. After choosing the best photo, I begin my preliminary sketch of stage one to secure likeness and proportion.
The first stage is an accurate anatomicle drawing of the horse and rider to balance proportion. I begin to study color and likenes, then add an acrylic wash to seal in the drawing as I start to build the airbrushing of the background. Then begins the work on the body of the horse with base color and adding muscle structure and tone.
I then will start the detail phase in which the character and personality will begin to shine through. Each stage is photgraphed and emailed to the owner in order for them to see and approve the complete process and completion. Then the paintings is formally presented....

I then move into stage 2 in which I will agressively build the anatomy and bone structure of the horse. In stage 3 I will then start working on the equipment such as saddle, bridle and crop. In the final stage I am ready to start work on the rider.
